The Crucifixion of our Lord Christ Jesus

Updated: Jul 31, 2022

I wish to tell you some rather interesting occurrences that you will find in the Holy Scriptures that happened before, during, and after our Lord Christ Jesus was crucified. You may not be aware of this rather interesting Holy Scripture that points to a grand design by our Lord God in the life of our Lord Christ Jesus. I hope you will find it rather interesting.

You see, a gathering of groups of three frame the crucifixion of our Lord Christ Jesus.

For example, before the crucifixion, our Lord Christ Jesus predicts his own death three times in Luke 9:22, 9:44, and 18:31-33.

Peter denied our Lord Christ Jesus three times. “Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” This in Luke 22:34.

Peter then denies our Lord Christ Jesus three times. Peter's denials you will find in Luke 22:57-61.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, our Lord Christ Jesus takes three disciples to pray with him. They are Peter, James, and John. Our Lord Christ Jesus prays to His Father three times and finds Peter, James, and John sleeping each time Christ Jesus returns to check on them, which is three times. This you will find in Matthew 26:36-45.

It is interesting to note that Pontius Pilot asked the Jewish crowd three different times what our Lord Christ Jesus had done. This in Luke 23:22. "For the third time he demanded, 'Why? What crime has he committed?' I have found no reason to sentence him to death."

On the day of crucifixion three crosses stand on the place called The Skull, one cross to the left of our Lord Christ Jesus and one cross to his right.

There were three hours of darkness from noon to three o'clock. You will find this in Luke 23:44.

There were three women, all named Mary, standing near the cross of our Lord Christ Jesus on the day of his crucifixion. Our Lord Christ Jesus' mother Mary, his mother’s sister Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene. This in John 19:25.

The sign nailed to the cross above our Lord Christ Jesus’ head, was written in three languages; Greek, Hebrew, and Latin. This is from John 19:20.

Our Lord Christ Jesus was crucified on the third hour. This reference you will find in Mark 15:25.

Our Lord Christ Jesus died on the cross at three o'clock in the afternoon. "By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o'clock. The light from the sun was gone. And suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn down the middle. Then our Lord Christ Jesus shouted, 'Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!' And with those words, he breathed his last?" You will find these verses in Luke 23:44-46.

Our Lord Christ Jesus was resurrected on the third day. This in Luke 24:6-7.

There were three women who visited the tomb of our Lord Christ Jesus. Again, all were named Mary. They were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and John, and Mary Salome who was said to be the wife of Zebedee. This you will find in Mark 16:1.

Our Lord Christ Jesus appears three times after his resurrection to the disciples. First in John 20:19 then again in John 20:26, and lastly, in John 21:14.

Our Lord Christ Jesus asks Peter three times if Peter loved him. This we find in John 21:15, and again in John 21:16, and lastly, in John 21:17. Three times Peter replied that he did love his Lord Christ Jesus in the same three verses.

Our Lord Christ Jesus’ earthly ministry lasted three years.

Our Lord Christ Jesus was 33 years of age when he died on the cross.

In the Holy Scriptures, the number three represents the Trinity of the Father, of the Son, and of The Holy Spirit. I do hope you enjoyed learning something special concerning the Crucifixion of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
