Promote Flawed Studies

This May, 2020, two prestigious medical journals, The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine were pressured into publishing studies that were later retraced by both journals. The pressure to published the flawed studies came from pharmaceutical companies that had much to gain from discrediting competitive drugs. One study in particular was published in The Lancet and it involved the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) in treating covid-19. This fraudulent study found that HCQ increased the risk of de-novo ventricular arrhythmia. However, it was later determined the doctors in this study were prescribing 4 times the normal recommended dosage for HCQ by the Food and Drug Administration; however, there was no ethics investigation. Other discrepancies in this study were also noted in an Open Letter submitted to M.R. Mehra, S.S. Desai, R. Ruschitzka, and A.N. Patel, authors of the study and to Richard Horton, editor of The Lancet.

Why would pharmaceutical companies pressure the publication of a fraudulent study, except to discredit HCQ in the treatment of covid-19? If HCQ lacked efficacy in treating covid-19, then why attack it as a treatment?

Both the editor of The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine "expressed their exasperation, citing the pressures put on them by pharmaceutical companies." Both editors "used the word 'criminal' to describe the erosion of science." This was revealed to Dr. Philippe Douste-Blazy M.D. during a top secret meeting at the Royal Institute of International Affairs.

This demonstrates the corruption of giant pharmaceutical companies which pressure magazines, TV news, radio stations, newspapers, and social media., to promote fraudulent studies even though it may result in the death of thousands. HCQ have been proven effective in treating covid-19 and some doctors claim it will cure covid-19. However, the pharmaceutical companies want to discredit anything or anyone that might threaten their profits for a patented covid-19 vaccine.
